Ibotta
The first Cash Back Shopping App in our roundup is Ibotta. It offers actual cash back for savings earned from offers, coupons, and purchases through their App. Offers range from groceries to apparel, electronics, restaurants, travel and more. Also, there is a browser extension when shopping from your desktop to earn additional savings. Savings can be earned from retailers like Target, Walmart, American Eagle, Nordstrom, Amazon and thousands of others.
Once you load your App, here’s how Ibotta works:
- Add offers or coupons for various products in the App by retailer.
- Shop at the supported retailer and redeem your offers in-store or online.
- Submit your receipt 3 different ways: link your loyalty or online account, manually upload your receipt, or shop via the shop link in the mobile app or browser extension.

Fetch Rewards
Similarly, the second Cash Back Shopping App in our roundup, Fetch Rewards, offers digital gift cards in exchange for your scanned receipts and e-receipts. The App accepts receipts from any retailer including restaurants and you earn points for each receipt. At minimum, you earn 25 points for your receipt. Unlike the Ibotta App, there are no offers that you need to clip or videos to watch. You just scan your receipt and earn points based on the current offers in the app. What’s more, by linking up your e-mail, the App can ‘fetch’ your e-receipts automatically for more points. We found this feature easy to use and convenient given all the receipts you receive via email. Once you’ve accumulated enough points, you can cash them in for digital gift cards from many different retailers or restaurants.
After you load your app, here’s how Fetch Rewards works:
- Submit your paper receipt by snapping a photo in the app. The receipt must have the retailer, date, and total. If your receipt is long, you can take multiple photos.
or
- Submit any e-receipt, by clicking the e-receipt button and Fetch will search your e-mail for e-receipts.
Note: Over a rolling 7-day period, you can only scan 35 receipts. - Exchange your points for digital gift cards when you reach the points threshold.
